Barred Owls Family (2) - The Dancing of the young owls

The dance of the elder owlet(2016-05-26)

The elder owlet flew out of the hollow on the Memorial Day week Saturday of 2018 (May 26), and went on a road of no return. Eagerly lef the home, he basically had no flying skills, and struggled awkwardly the entire morning, often falling down from one branch to another, hitting the ground, and then climbing up the tree tenaciously with the help of her wings, again and again. There were a lot of people watching the fledged owlet in morning, and everyone was worrying the fate of this brave young owl. The parents had been staring at him and were ready to attack any intruders (including some photographers and curious) who attempt to approach the kitty owl. When I came back late the day, I thought it was drowned in the water at the begining. Later, I finally saw the little owl on the top of a big tree, calm in the wind.

The dance of the second baby owl (2016-05-28)

The Sunday was raining in our area, so I took a trip to Maine for birding . The rain finnally stopped in the Monday afternoon. When I arrived at the nesting site, the youngest owl already came out of the nest to the trees on the other side of the road. It was surrounded by the crowds with "machine guns" and "big cannons". Constrating with the awkwardness of elder brother two days before, the flying of this one was very stable and acurate. He could fly to another branch or tree and landed there steadly. His parents were kept cheering for him, sometimes even coming gave him a hug.

It was totally empty and quiet there When I arrived at the same site next morning, no single photographer or observer, as if nothing had happened before. However, the owl family has not yet gone far away. I saw both of the parents, but did not see any of the young owls. There are no trace of owls a few days later.
