Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah National Park

Blue Ridge Mountains is part of the larger Appalachian Mountains range. Blue Ridge Mountain, in turn, is the westernmost ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Shenandoach National Park is in the northern end of Blue ridge, while Great Smoky Mountains National Park is in the southern. Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic highway that connects these two national parks. The parkway runs mostly along the spine of the Blue Ridge, with a total length of 755 km, a lot of viewpoints along the way. Our initial plan was to drive the full path in two days from south to north. We realized very soon that was not practical in reality. We finally decided to pull out the parkway to check in in the hotel earlier in a day with heavy rain.
Coming from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we were really not excited about the scenry along the Parkway. Shenandoach National Park doesn't offer any highlight neither although it collects the entrance fee. Although these places are very cool and scenic to spend hot summer, they are not much exiting for people looking for eye caught sites. Therefore, unless people really have plent of time, then driving the full length along the Parkway is not recommended.
The photos in this page are roughly in the sequence of from South to the northern end of the Skyline Parkway of Shenandoach National Park.
