The winter of 2017 is a season of snowy owl breaks, although not as big as the 2013-14 season. Neverthless, it is a big season for me as I started shooting the wildlife with my cameras a couple of years ago. My first eye withness with the snowy owl was on November 24, 2017 in Plum Island. It was getting dark at the time and the bird was far away. I took a lot of photos in the field and then deleted all of them from my disk space in the home since none of them is worthy to preserve. My last encounter with snowy olws this season was on April 29, 2018 athough some of them stayed in local the whole summer. Photographying snow owl is an arduous job but also filled with great joy. I usually spent full days during weekends if weather condition was fairly good. Once I arrived in the costal area, I searched every possible places for the trace of a snowy owl, then patiently waited there if one was found, usually in very cold and windy day . The surprisingly best time came after the daylight saving time began, for which I initially thought would be the time most of snowy owls return to their arctic home and the ending of the snowy owl photography season. Day time was longer and longer, and the outside was warmer, yet the snowy owls also became more ative so the chance of catching the flying was really great.
Since one single article cannot include so many photos I took during this season, I have grouped selected photos in three separate categories, flying, stationary and working scenes. This article will show case the flying owls chronically.
